Alexandra Vizman

Alexandra-Mihaela Vizman is a Romanian pianist based in Switzerland. She began studying piano at the age of 8, with teacher Ana-Maria Colompar. Four years later, she was admitted to the Ion Vidu National College of Art, where, after three years, she joined the class of teacher Maria Bodo, with whom she worked until earning her Bachelor's degree in Musical Performance from the Faculty of Music and Theatre of Timișoara in 2016.

During her studies, she took part in national and international competitions and festivals, winning several prizes. In 2014, after receiving a scholarship from the Rotaract Club competition as part of the RotarArt 4x4 project, she gave solo recitals in Timișoara, Cluj-Napoca, Iași and Bucharest.

She continued her studies at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne, joining the class of pianist Pascal Godart. There she earned a Master's degree in Instrumental Pedagogy in 2018, and a second Master's degree in Performance in 2020. During this time, she took part in masterclasses with award-winning pianists Johan Schmidt and Giovanni Bellucci. She also studied chamber music with Vincent Coq, pianist of the Trio Wanderer, as well as with Pierre-Stéphane Meugé.

She has a rich artistic career, performing as a soloist, notably with the Banatul Philharmonic Orchestra of Timișoara (2016, 2019), as well as with the HEMU Contemporary Ensemble, conducted by composer William Blank (2020). In 2017, she founded Trio Miró with clarinettist Adeline Mélo and violinist Émile Abeille, with whom she performs in Switzerland and abroad.

Contemporary music plays an essential role in her artistic activity, which led her to found Abraxas Ensemble, where she serves as co-artistic director. Within Abraxas, she later began playing with flautist Léa Marion-Nély, with whom she created Duo Rosé. In addition to her work as a performer, she has a rich teaching career at the École de Musique de Rolle et Environs, where she teaches piano, as well as serving as an examiner for piano exams.
